Hi, Im currently building a site for a friend in shopify, however Im struggling to create a suitable navigation, as I can only have a collection with 1 set of products within the collection, how do I have sub categories ?

an example would be,

LAPTOPS

Brands …

Dell – Mac – HP – Acer – Sony

Sub Categories —

Harddrives – Accessories – Screens – Keyboard – Mouse – Other etc..

Then I would have relative products inside each sub category.

But this is hard to do in shopify ? Is there a way of passing a {{‘ GET product tags ‘}} or something like that in order to trigger the page to display relative products ?

Hello! This is kind of off topic but I need some help from an established blog. Is it hard to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Appreciate it

Thanks Richard, very helpful. I was so relieved to see in my Google results that someone had already done this for Thematic.

I had to remove the ‘n’s as well…. why are they there? Are they needed? Seems to work without them so far.

That fix doesn’t work either. I just removed the ‘n’ entirely and it worked fine. =]

This is really useful, definitely helping me understand this whole customisation thing.

I’ve spotted a mistake though, in the thematic_postheader() function you included the newlines have lost their escaping backslash and become straight ‘n’s. I think they only appear after tags, so I did a search on ‘>n’ and replaced with ‘>&92;n’
